v1.02 - guess what, bugfixes

Hello. A new year, a new release, and more bugfixes are the order of the day.

Among the most important, users can now be made admins, the image code now works, foreign characters now display correctly and you can now have more than one forum on the same server without their cookie details overlapping.

Another tiny release, just one file (low.php) changed to fix something I thought I'd fixed yesterday but hadn't.

v1.01 - bugfix time

An updated version of the forum software, v1.01, has just been released. It's mostly just fixing minor bugs, but there's also a security update for a minor vulnerability in the low-graphics version so I recommend you update ASAP.

Remember, you don't need to even visit the site to update any more - just log in to your forum, go to the admin panel and click the link and the upgrade will be installed automatically.

It was pointed out that there wasn't any way to see how the script looked until you'd installed it. So now there is. Click here or on the menu link on the left for screenshots.

v1.0 released!

I was a fair way through revamping PHP-Update into fuzzylime (cms) that I suddenly realised I hadn't thought about what I would do with the accompanying forum, PHP-Post. Its last version was, frankly, a mess. The code was horrible, buggy and wide open, and I never really put any effort into fixing it, concentrating on the CMS instead. The forum just ended up full of spam.

So I decided that, in a lull in my CMS programming, I'd get started on changing the forum too. Thus, fuzzylime (forum) was born. And it's different from any forum you've ever used.

Gone is the clicking through multiple pages to find your current thread. Gone also having to keep multiple windows open just so you can have a list of topics. In its place, a new, e-mail-style interface - forums down the left, topics at the top and the current one at the bottom. It all uses Ajax technology to make everything work together sensibly - but if your browser doesn't support it, you'll be sent off to a flat-file version instead so your forums support as many users as possible.

What else? Well, the forum now offers up RSS feeds, for a specific topic, a specific forum or your whole site. You can choose from a host of colour schemes and easily change the forum's logo, and there's a hugely improved search interface.

Incidentally, if you want a CMS for your site too, the new fuzzylime (cms) was launched today as well. It is a huge improvement to the previous PHP-Update, with lots of extra features and a really swish way of working that I'm pretty proud of. You can find it cunningly hidden at http://cms.fuzzylime.co.uk.

Thanks for all your continued support. I'm delighted we've finally got here and I'm really keen to hear what you all think of the script - either in the comments here, in the forum, or through e-mail. I'd love to hear from you all.

This change does mean one more thing - the end of PHP-Post. I'll be able to offer limited support for it through the fuzzylime message board, but I really recommend moving over to fuzzylime (forum).

Also, the PHP-Post mailing list isn't being moved across to the fuzzylime (forum) site. So if you want to get updates, enter your address in the box on the right!
